23rd ICC Assembly of State Parties
In December 2024, ICJP hosted two events at the 23rd International Criminal Court (ICC) Assembly of State Parties.
The first event took place on the 3rd of December 2024, when ICJP hosted jointly hosted a panel on ‘The Right to Return’ with the Boston University School of Law, Al-Haq and Al-Haq Europe. This took place as a side event at the International Institute of Social Studies, in The Hague.
This discussion featured the speakers Haydee Dijkstal, ICJP Chief Counsel, Professor Susan Akram, Director of the International Human Rights Clinic at Boston University, Ahmed Abououl, Legal Adviser at Al-Haq, and was chaired by Dr Jeff Handmaker, Associate Professor at the International Institute of Social Studies.
On the 4th of December 2024, ICJP hosted a panel in collaboration with Al-Haq and Al-Haq Europe on the ‘Destruction of Gaza’s Healthcare.’ This took place in at the World Forum in the Hague. The event featured speakers Haydee Dijkstal, ICJP Chief Counsel, Tahseen Elayyan, Al-Haq Legal Researcher, Dr Junaid Sultan, vascular surgeon who has volunteered his medical services in Gaza, and was chaired by ICJP Legal Officer Mira Naseer.
This event was very well attended, with the room filled to capacity. The panel had a dynamic legal discussion and heard an impactful personal testimony from Dr Junaid Sultan on what he witnessed first-hand during his time working as a medical professional in Gaza.
