ICJP submits recommendations to Foreign Secretary to sanction World Zionist Organization’s Settlement Division

London, 6th June 2025- The International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) has submitted a comprehensive recommendation for sanctions against the World Zionist Organization (WZO) Settlement Division, including a senior individual within the organisation.

The recommendations propose that WZO should be sanctioned under the UK’s Global Human Rights Sanctions Regulations 2020. The recommendations note that a precedent for sanctions of this nature already exists, as an organisation carrying out similar work, Amana, was sanctioned by the UK Government in October 2024.

In particular, the recommendations draw on WZO’s funding for illegal Israeli settlements. These activities include allocating private Palestinian lands to settlers without the owners’ consent, managing land without oversight or requiring compensation, neglecting to collect debts on loans provided to settlers, and playing a key role in establishing illegal settler outposts.

Implementing sanctions would also align with longstanding UK Government policy that Israeli settlements in the West Bank are unlawful under international law, and would align with the International Court of Justice’s July 2024 Advisory Opinion on the illegality of the occupation.

ICJP has identified two UK-based facilitators. These include the Zionist Federation of Great Britain and Ireland, which is an affiliate organisation of WZO, and Mizrachi UK, a UK-based charity that receives funding from WZO.

In March 2025, ICJP urged the Charity Commission to take action against Mizrachi UK for fundraising for members of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and for promoting hate speech through its events.
