Global 195: ICJP calls on Greek authorities to investigate alleged war crimes committed by Israeli soldier in Gaza

London, 26th June 2026 – The International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) has submitted an urgent request to the Office of the Public Prosecutor calling for the investigation and, where the legal threshold is met, the arrest of an individual believed to be currently in Greece. The individual, suspected of involvement in war crimes and crimes against humanity, is believed to be a member of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).

The complaint has been submitted to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rhodes and the Supreme Prosecutor in Athens. This complaint has been submitted by ICJP and our Global 195 partner in Greece, Evgenia Kouniaki.

The request is based on information indicating that the individual may have participated in conduct amounting to war crimes and crimes against humanity during Israel’s genocide in Gaza. ICJP has asked the relevant Greek authorities to investigate the allegations in accordance with Greek law and Greece’s international obligations under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The submission notes the arrest warrants issued by the ICC in November 2024 concerning alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by senior Israeli officials.

The request calls upon the Greek authorities to examine the individual’s alleged conduct within the context of war crimes and crimes against humanity and, where appropriate, to initiate a formal criminal investigation. ICJP has further indicated its willingness to provide the relevant authorities with access to evidence to assist any investigation or subsequent legal proceedings.
